mali niŋHow do i return to my draft page ...
mali niŋI have set up a draft page and it said when I finish working on the page press "Publish" and it will save the page so that I can come back to it at a later date which I am doing today but I cannot find how to get back to the page ... it says that this page has been deleted ... but the other day it said this but the page was not deleted somehow I managed to get into it ... what am I doing wrong? and where can I go to find out how to reenter a page after I close it down. Thank you. Ngeralite (talk) 00:18, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

How to fix a talk page archive mess?
mali niŋTalk:Melbourne Airport seems to have been manually archived by someone in 2008/09. However, I wanted to set up auto-archiving, and so I did using Lowercase sigmabot III, but realised that it would archive the most recent posts into Archive 1, when there already was an Archive 2 that was previously manually created. So I disabled the bot for now.
I've now moved the contents of Archive 2 into Archive 1, and it now sits at around 50k bytes, when the bot's default max is 125k bytes per archive. I've also made sure that the posts are in chronological order. Is it now safe to reinstate the auto-archiving template? Is there something we can do about the now empty Archive 2?
Thanks and please ping me. Fork99 (talk) 05:38, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
Linking infobox to Wikidata
mali niŋHello, I just created Naum Tyufekchiev, and I was trying to link the infobox with Wikidata, but I couldn't find how. If you can tell me how to do it, I would be really grateful.
Thank you in advance AgisdeSparte (talk) 09:19, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- AgisdeSparte, I looked at Template:Infobox person/Wikidata and put {{Infobox person/Wikidata | fetchwikidata=ALL}}, which picks up sourced information from Wikidata. You may want to add some more sources to the Wikidata item. TSventon (talk) 09:57, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, ok, I just didn't put the "fetchwikidata=ALL", thanks anyways ! AgisdeSparte (talk) 10:14, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- AgisdeSparte, my general advice would be, if a template isn't working, search online for the template name and then check the instructions. TSventon (talk) 10:35, 13 August 2023 (UTC)

stats on my activity on Wikipedia
mali niŋI was surprised to see that I am the largest contributor (22.5%, 23.8% and 16.8% by the various methods in "revision history statistics" under "page information") to an article about a town that I have never visited and for which I have a fairly narrow band of interest. Is there anything that would show across all of Wikipedia those articles in which I am a major contributor? I was just wondering if there are any other surprises on my input. Fixing an archiving mistake
mali niŋHi. Over the last few months I added ClueBot III headers to a few Talk pages. Today I realized that my copy and paste was setting the archiveprefix to the value correct only for the Talk Matter Wave page. I've tried to correct the pages. But I guess some archiving might have gone into the wrong bin.
Any suggestions on how to repair or even check what happened?
I noticed that @Sawol seems to be fixing some of this.

Blue Highlighted Words In Articles
mali niŋHello. I am wondering how I might fix an issue I have when reading Wikipedia. It used to be that if I put my cursor on a blue highlighted word, it would give a brief rundown of that work, phrase, person, etc. But now, if I do so, all it does is mimic the word highlighted and do nothing else. Is there something that I can do to fix this so that it goes back to the original way of description? Thank-you for your time and advice. It is appreciated. Have a great day! 2601:500:8882:73D0:E91C:9483:87BE:7835 (talk) 23:32, 13 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, IP user. There are two different tools that give some sort of preview of a linked page: one is called page previews, and I think is enabled by default, and a cleverer one called Navigation popups, which a logged-in user can enable in their user preferences. I don't quite recognise what you're describing, but I suspect that if you chose to create an account you could enable navigation popups and find them helpful. ColinFine (talk) 10:04, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- IP editor: I think that readers who are not logged in get an option to see page previews (or not). Try hovering over a blue-link where you would expect a preview. You may not currently see one but I believe you should see a "settings" cog in the corner of the preview box. Click on that and you should be able to activate the full previews: which I assume are related to how cookies are set in your browser. Mike Turnbull (talk) 11:27, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- If you have disabled previews then there should be a link saying "Edit preview settings" at the bottom right of the window. PrimeHunter (talk) 13:52, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

mali niŋTable column sorting
mali niŋI'm trying to fix a sorting problem in AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies. Some movies have been added to and deleted from the second edition of the list, so in one or the other rank column, there is a blank for these entries. However, when you sort the later list ranking, that puts them at the top of the list, before #1. NR doesn't work. What's the standard solution? Clarityfiend (talk) 02:49, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- The {{sort}} template. I take it you want them at the bottom when sorted ascending, so they go 1, 2, 3, ..., 100, not-rated, not-rated, not-rated, etc.? Then use
{{sort|101|}}
, which sorts a given cell as 101 and displays blank. —Cryptic 03:10, 14 August 2023 (UTC)- Thanks. Clarityfiend (talk) 22:13, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Admin Rights to A Business Page

- Taylorray1399 Simply put, you don't. There's a few things here - because you work for an organisation, you should not directly edit an article about that subject. You should instead, create a WP:edit request on the talk page. This is because you have a conflict of interest with the organisation.
- You also do not own the article we have on this business. There is also plenty of reasons why we wouldn't change a name when it changes. I would post on the talk page of the article in question and ask someone to start a requested move discussion. Lee Vilenski (talk • contribs) 14:00, 14 August 2023 (UTC)

Preview bug?
mali niŋHi, is there a list somewhere of reported Wikipedia bugs? Phabricator maybe? I am having issues with the edit preview not matching the edit window or updating properly. Sometimes the text posts in a truncated or scrambled form. I am aware that this isn't enough information to tech the issue really, but am thinking that if something has already been documented and hopefully solved, I won't have to tech it myself. Not sure how such a list would be organized, and I have never looked at Phabricator, but this happens on two different Android phones, so it isn't a device issue probably. Low storage could possibly be an issue. I would appreciate any thoughts. Elinruby (talk) 16:22, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
Other possibly relevant data: does not seem specific to a particular skin, does not happen on other web platforms (Facebook, Twitter Google Maps, etc. All of which I also use on the web not an app), happens in both Talk and Article space. No screenshots at the moment but this could happen, as I need to solve this. So far have cleared cache, turned off gadgets and beta features, rebooted, but no joy. Working on clearing storage Elinruby (talk) 16:42, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Elinruby do you remember the page title of one page where the issue occured by any chance? Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 17:31, 14 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Victor Schmidt and Victor Schmidt mobil: If you look at Talk:Black market in wartime France there are some examples as well as some discussion of subsidiary problems such as edit conflicts. One concise example is #Text size, which discusses a display problem neither of the other two editors working the page at the time seem to have. Seemed unimportant at the time. Then a huge carnage took place in References, which I think must be related but which to the outside observer would be complicated by people overwriting each other while trying to fix it. It certainly increased the priority of fixing this however.
- A better second example that I just noticed would be in #Back to normal, where I talk about this ticket and making hardware changes. There is a second unintended signed post below the one I made. This happened on a different Android phone than the one I was using on the day of the #text size post.
- These extra posts happen frequently and are usually just a signature, but sometimes include text from the post above them. They do not appear in preview, presumably because somehow the interface thinks they are separate posts. I remove them but that's annoying and probably makes the hamsters work harder, while if I miss them they confuse other editors trying to deduce their meaning.
- I am having some problems with implementing the hardware change discussed in #Back to normal but these involve saved passwords and not wanting to edit logged out; I don't need help with them, just more time than I have today. I came back in here on one of the Androids to check on this ticket but am currently hesitant to click around in anything complicated. Elinruby (talk) 15:47, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- Actually I suspect the above have the same root cause, possibly some memory management issue, but what they don't include is an example of the most annoying manifestation of all, the edit window and the preview getting out of synch (except the reference section issue maybe, but there are too many confounding factors there and I can't troubleshoot this theory there). I will try to get back to you with an example of out-of-synchness, tomorrow probably Elinruby (talk) 16:18, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- I updated the talk page about this ticket and as a result now have screen shots of a mismatch between the edit window and the preview, but I don't want to inundate this ticket until somebody responds back. I found Phabricator and have briefly looked at it but more searching is required there. Really, what I was hoping was that this would sound familiar to someone who could point me to a fix. Elinruby (talk) 19:17, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- @Elinruby: The only thing I noticed is that you seem to be using the mobile web interface, which has less functionality and is often bugged, compared to desktop. I personally always use the desktop interface, using the timeless skin with responsive mode enabled. Victor Schmidt mobil (talk) 19:48, 15 August 2023 (UTC)
- yeah I am going there but I was hoping it would only be as a temporary measure. I agree that the mobile interface has bugs and I am specifically trying to report one. I do not own a desktop. I am resurrecting a laptop I stopped using when I was working on corruption topics because it is so identifiable. This is not a satisfactory solution either. The Windows laptop needs a soldering iron. Either laptop will be difficult to use for medical reasons. So Phabricator it is I guess? Elinruby (talk) 20:11, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

Deleting a page
mali niŋI first proposed Acespaces for deletion as WP:BLPPROD but the page creator removed it with references to their social media accounts. Musical Artist Infobox - Years Active (Disband/Reform Same Year)
mali niŋHello, hopefully I am in the right place to ask this question. Apologies if not. I was recently editing an artist's page (Terrorizer to be exact) since they disbanded earlier this year and had just recently reformed. In the infobox of the artist under 'Years Active', I had it as ...2009–2023, 2023–present, but another editor keeps reverting it to 2009–present because they believe "the hiatus didn't carry onto another year, meaning that it is just 2009 present and nothing else". I don't believe that matters since they were confirmed to be inactive during several months in 2023. I tried looking in Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Dates and numbers to see if there was any rules or correct format for something like this, but could not find it. The only thing I could reference is the artist Limp Bizkit and their member DJ Lethal, who left and returned to the band several times in 2012. Although it's not in the infobox of the band and is in the Band members section, it is shown in the format I used. Does anyone know the correct way to feature this? Indicating geographically limited access to sources in CS1/2 citation templates
mali niŋAs I live in Europe, I often encounter sources that aren't accessible outside the United States. The documentation for {{limited access}} says that it can be used in cases of "providing the contents only to certain IP ranges/locales". However, it also says: "This template should only be used on references input as free text. Access signaling has been integrated in the CS1/2 citation templates. See the relevant documentation."
Unfortunately, the "relevant documentation" doesn't seem to provide any option for indicating geographically limited access – it only pertains to registration and subscription requirements. So I don't know how to mark CS1/2-cited sources as having geographically limited access. Is there a way to do that? Joriki (talk) 20:43, 15 August 2023 (UTC)

mali niŋAttached is my latest CV 49.127.26.104 (talk) 07:52, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- The attachment is strangely invisible. If your Wikipedia page says something that's out of date or otherwise erroneous, simply go to its talk page and at the foot of this talk page make your suggestions/requests, backing up each of these with a reliable source. -- Hoary (talk) 09:07, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Wiki Page with incorrect information
mali niŋHi, I am part of an organisation that has a wikipage - Widnes Wild Ice Hockey Club, Widnes - I have been trying to alter incorrect information on the page for a few months now and everytime i do the information is removed and reverted back to an older set of information. Is there a way i can confirm my legitamte connection to the club and our wish to change this faulse information. MikeTheHuss99 (talk) 09:31, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- MikeTheHuss99 If you are associated with the club, you need to declare a conflict of interest. If you are compensated in any manner(not just money) by the club, the Terms of Use require you to make a formal paid editing disclosure.
- You have a slight misunderstanding here- your organization does not have a "wikipage" here- Wikipedia has an article about your organization, no different than if the New York Times wrote about your organization. Your organization has no special rights to the article, but its input(through you) is welcome; please read about how to make formal edit requests on the article talk page(Talk:Widnes Wild) detailing changes you feel are needed. 331dot (talk) 09:41, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- This page is more for help with technical problems. Please ask for assistance at WP:Teahouse and write
[[Widnes Wild]]
to show the article you mean. That is displayed as a link: Widnes Wild. The brief answer to your question is that you can update the article but reliable sources are needed. Johnuniq (talk) 09:43, 16 August 2023 (UTC)- I don't believe this page is limited to technical problems- at the top it states "This place is meant for questions about how to use or edit Wikipedia". The Teahouse is more geared to new/inexperienced users and is meant to be a friendlier place than this Help Desk, but as I've understood it their functions are otherwise similar. Technical issues should actually be discussed at the Village Pump. 331dot (talk) 09:45, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Sure, but without using a lot of text that would confuse a new editor, what I said is pretty reasonable. Someone at the Teahouse might help with what needs to be done (if anything). Johnuniq (talk) 09:54, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- MikeTheHuss99, you could have asked your question either here or in the "Teahouse". You asked it here, and 331dot gave you a sound answer. Follow 331dot's advice; and if you get stuck then ask a follow-up question here. -- Hoary (talk) 11:52, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Misuse of booking template reference
mali niŋHello, recently I've noticed a misuse of the reference 2 in the article of Wikipedia Bots. Can you attempt to fix this? Thanks a lot. GreatPersonLikeMe (talk) 14:48, 16 August 2023 (UTC)GreatPersonLikeMeGreatPersonLikeMe (talk) 14:48, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

have a nice day
mali niŋWhen I try to write an article or try to make changes to an article, a screen appears. it tells me to type some letters on the screen. I write the letters, but it keeps demanding the same thing. Does anyone know about this problem? Hamid Huseyni (talk) 15:55, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- This is a security feature known as CAPTCHA for new accounts that prevents bot-like editing. See this page for more information. --Jayron32 15:59, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- The link you provided already sends me to the helpdesk, that is, here. I'm not a bot or something. so how can i solve this problem? Hamid Huseyni (talk) 16:06, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hi @Hamid Huseyni. Both of the links work fine for me, try opening them up in a new browser window? Here are the raw URLs. The second one is specifically useful to your situation.
- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Captcha Qcne (talk) 16:11, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the solutions suggested on the page don't work very well. I guess I will not be able to solve this problem. I'm sorry for bothering you too. Hamid Huseyni (talk) 16:24, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- Oh, I'm sorry - did you mean that the third solution suggestion was to come to the Help Desk? Apologies, I misunderstood and thought you meant your links weren't opening correctly. Try this solution: make sure that after entering the CAPTCHA text you click the 'Publish changes' button, not the 'Refresh' button. The latter button will instead just generate a new CAPTCHA. Let us know if that works? Qcne (talk) 16:30, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- To be more clear, CAPTCHA comes up when I add a text. After entering the CAPTCHA text, I press the publish change button. So I am not renewing. but the same CAPTCHA keeps coming, I write once, it comes again, I write again and it comes again. I'm not typing the text wrong, I'm typing it right, but it keeps coming. Anyway, I don't want to bother too much about it, maybe it will get better with time. Hamid Huseyni (talk) 16:36, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- I wonder if it's an issue with your browser. 331dot (talk) 16:37, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

- My recollection is that when I give a correct answer to a Wikipedia captcha, it just presents me with another one; and that this behaviour is long-standing. But once you've given your correct answer, you can ignore the next one, and just get on with making your edit. Maproom (talk) 16:49, 16 August 2023 (UTC)

Referencing errors on Yu-Shan Lin
mali niŋReference help requested. Hello! I got this message "A "bare URL and missing title" error. References show this error when they do not have a title. Please edit the article to add the appropriate title parameter to the reference." about some secondary citations I added to Yu-Shan Lin's page linked here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yu-Shan_Lin I tried to look at the code and wasn't able to see what citation set off this automatic bot, so I wanted to ask if you could tell which reference set it off, and if I could learn how to do that in the future. Thank you and have a great day! All my best, Ella Thanks, Chem2023 (talk) 19:19, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- It's this citation. You left out the source's title.

Salakanagara, a modern myth
mali niŋThere is a page on the Salakanagara Kingdom, and it is highly problematic. Salakanagara is a modern myth, as no reliable sources are present on this topic. The Pustaka Rajya Rajya i Bhumi Nusantara is a forgery, there are no archeological findings, I want to add this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fvPZjDwnJE and please read the Talk Page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Salakanagara, were all kind of doubts are expressed. Deletion would imho be the best solution. Kind regards, AGM82 AGM82 (talk) 20:08, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- This article has existed for 16 years! Ruslik_Zero 20:17, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- From what I've seen on Google, Salakanagara appears to be primarily promoted in sketchy blogs and the like. casualdejekyll 20:19, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
- I've proposed the article for deletion - this doesn't seem to be controversial enough to require a full AfD. casualdejekyll 20:17, 16 August 2023 (UTC)
Article titles

need editor help - Add photo for Michael Yamashita
mali niŋHi all,
Michael Yamashita's studio has added a photograph of him to the creative commons. Can we please add this to his page? I am not skilled enough to make this edit yet, but am a fan of Mike's and assisting in getting his page updated.
Gracious for your help

mali niŋFix the reference of Georgios Dritsakos
mali niŋCan you help me fix the reference of Lieutenant General Georgios Dritsakos in the reference of the year archive of the Hellenic Air Force? In the draft. 108.21.67.83 (talk) 01:05, 17 August 2023 (UTC)

dates of wiki articles
mali niŋhi --- i just looked up "critical theory" and "social issues" and downloaded them as PDFs. when i file such items, i almost always imbed the "last edited" date from the bottom of the article. that date was omitted from both PDFs, so i re-checked your "live" articles, and those dates are present there. out of curiosity, why are the last-edited dates not carried into the PDF's. tanx Martin da nazz (talk) 02:03, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- Hello, Martin da nazz. Every Wikipedia article has a "History" tab, which is easily visible in the Vector 2010 skin that I use. It may be harder to find when using other skins, apps and mobile sites. In any event, Critical theory was last edited by a bot on August 12 and a human editor on August 6. Both were minor edits. Why?
mali niŋIn Wikimedia Commons whenever I want to upload something it doesn't work CyberDaniel (talk) 03:00, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- @CyberDaniel Can't say for sure (since I don't know what you tried), but a common mistake is to upload pictures you didn't take yourself with your own camera, Commons only accept "free" stuff. Commons:First steps may be of help to you. Also, Commons has its own help desk. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 05:47, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
- As GGS says, Commons has its own help desk, C:Commons:Help desk. But if you post there, I very strongly advise you to be clearer about your problem. "It doesn't work" is an utterly useless phrase for anybody trying to investigate a problem. Tell them what you were trying to do, how you were doing it, and what happened. (There are no uploads in your user log on Commons, so it's not the problem that GGS guessed). ColinFine (talk) 09:52, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
Remove user page history
mali niŋHi, I would like to remove or hide the edit history of my user page over privacy concerns. I'm not sure how to do it myself or who to ask, so I figured this would be a good place to start. The most recent version can stay up. Thank you in advance. Markie93 (talk) 10:30, 17 August 2023 (UTC)
