Description
mali niŋ
Produces a flag icon attached to a wikilinked article. This template is similar to the more widely used flag and flagcountry templates, but is more useful for representing something like a country/region/place/organization/etc followed by a link, labelled using that country/region/etc's name, to an article on some aspect of that country/region/etc.
- Parameters
|1=
(first unnamed parameter): Use a string that will precede the country name defined in the second parameter.|2=
(second unnamed parameter): Use either the name of the state or in some cases, a three-letter country code (e.g. ISO 3166-1 alpha-3)|variant=
(optional parameter): Specifies an alternative (historical) flag to use. This parameter is documented by the appropriate template in Category:Country data templates.|size=
(optional): Can be used to change the flag icon size.|name=
(optional): The display text of the target wikilink is usually automatically generated, but can always be over-ridden with the name parameter.
Usage examples
mali niŋ
→ Template:Country data LIE Tɛmplet:Country data LIE- In this case, the country code for Liechtenstein (LIE) is used to produce the correct flag and wikilink to Politics of Liechtenstein.

→ Template:Country data LIE Tɛmplet:Country data LIE- Similar to the first example, but with a flag variant parameter to select a historical flag image.

→ Czechia- Optionally, an alternate name can be displayed. Note that the wikilink still uses the name used in the country's article (defined in Template:Country data Czech Republic in this case).

→ Template:Country data North Korea Tɛmplet:Country data North Korea- If no article exists with the name formed by the combination of string and name, the link will default to name.

, for instance, produces Template:Country data North Korea Tɛmplet:Country data North Korea with "North Korea" as a link to North Korea because Disc golf in North Korea does not exist.
- If no article exists with the name formed by the combination of string and name, the link will default to name.
To specify a width for the icon and/or a particular variant/version of the flag, set the parameters |size=
and/or |variant=
in the same manner as flagicon's size and variant parameters. (See flagicon's documentation for more details.)
